"The Man Who Came Back" follows Young Eagle as he and his horse Thunder pursue a fugitive named Cannon through the mountains. When Cannon escapes toward a stables, Young Eagle discovers that Jeff Thomas, a rancher, harbored Cannon out of desperation—Thomas had fallen under the control of a gang leader who held a mortgage on his ranch and threatened foreclosure unless Thomas helped the criminals. Young Eagle learns that Thomas was coerced into being a scapegoat to shield the gang's true operations, and agrees to help clear Thomas's name and bring the real culprits to justice.
