"The Rogues' Rodeo" follows Young Eagle as he investigates the arrest of Buff Hawkes, a champion endurance swimmer who was arrested after returning from a swimming contest. Young Eagle discovers that Hawkes was actually arrested for animal cruelty—specifically for keeping his calves underwater for eighteen hours. After encountering the criminal Injun at a wild horse corral, Young Eagle engages in a confrontation that leaves a man dead in the stables. The story concludes with Young Eagle and others discussing the incident, with Taylor defending his actions and the crowd dispersing as two figures step out of the shadows.
