“Only Love Endures!”

In "Only Love Endures!", Cora leaves behind heartbreak in the countryside for a new life in the city, where she finds unexpected stability in a marriage to David, a widowed businessman. As her feelings for David deepen, she’s drawn to his daughter Janet’s fiancé, Steve, leading to a moment of tension that forces Cora to confront her emotions. The story unfolds with emotional weight, anchored by Mort Meskin’s expressive art and George Roussos’s inks, while John Prentice’s cover captures the drama in sharp, evocative detail.

After Bert dumps her, Cora moves to the city and gets a job. She meets visiting businessman David, a middle-aged widower, and agrees to marry him for “security.” Cora is attracted to Steve, the fiancé of David’s daughter Janet. They kiss. David sees them and Cora says “I only wanted...a little excitement! Forgive me for being young!” Cora realizes she loves David but he’s badly injured in a possibly-deliberate car crash and “will never walk again!” Cora’s “penance” will be to care for David for the rest of her life.
