Toni and Stan get married and inherit a house from Toni’s grandmother. They face prejudice from some of the residents of their small town due to Stan's previous reputation as a "bad boy" and gambler. Urged to sell the house, Toni and Stan want to keep it and make ends meet by renting space to several veterans and their families who’ve come to work in the town’s steel mill.
