As the conflict spirals between Coll's mob and Schultz's organization, desperation and ambition drive Coll toward increasingly reckless moves that draw the attention of other major players in the underworld. This 1964 crime chronicle traces the rise and unraveling of one of the era's most infamous killers.

When Mike Strong interrupts a woman's suicide attempt atop the city's highest tower, he discovers she's been manipulated by a fraudulent fortune teller named Mysta into believing the stars have sealed her fate. Mike teams up with his associate Pat Kent and her resourceful ally Sandy Quirk to uncover the real conspiracy behind Helen Corning's despair—one that reaches far deeper than mystical mumbo-jumbo. A sharp detective yarn that strips away the cosmic hokum to reveal a much earthier scheme.
