Don Winslow and his partner Red find themselves stranded in the South Pacific after their plane is shot down—only to discover their Navy-issue life jackets are filled with sawdust instead of proper flotation material. When they report back to Admiral Colby, the investigation leads them to the Wilson Life Belt Company, where a dangerous criminal known as the Renegade has orchestrated a deadly scheme to cut corners and pocket the profits, no matter the cost in lives. Don and Red race to expose the villain and shut down his operation before more servicemen fall victim to his sabotage.
