The Dictator
10 pp · crime

When a ruthless criminal named Knobby Peters flees to a large Eastern city, he spots an opportunity in "Big Shot" Dillon, a beloved neighborhood figure who wins friends by helping the needy. Peters recruits Dillon to distribute his money throughout the slum district as part of a sinister scheme to build a voting bloc powerful enough to control the upcoming mayoral election. As Dillon becomes a folk hero and Peters establishes the "Non-Partisan" Voters' League to consolidate their influence, the full scope of the criminal plot unfolds in this 1952 crime tale.

Blackmail
12 pp · crime

Fred Dopper, a law candidate with a shadowy past, reunites with an old associate and hatches a scheme to use his future position for crime—but two blackmailers operating in the same city uncover damaging evidence that threatens to upend everything. When their paths collide, a web of extortion, corruption, and desperation sets the stage for a violent reckoning that even Dopper can't control.

The Payoff
8 pp · crime

Down with Crime: "The Payoff" Two young hustlers, Slim Townsend and Hickey Hicks, get pulled into Baltimore's thriving black market during World War II when a small-time operator named Fatso Condon dangles the promise of easy money in front of them. What starts as petty theft quickly escalates into something far more dangerous—and far more costly—when greed and desperation push them down a path they can't escape. This hard-hitting 1952 crime story shows exactly why the only real payoff to a life of crime is a reckoning with the law.
