Detective Brett Marlowe is called to investigate sabotage and anonymous threats against Monsieur Duval's waxwork exhibition, where burglars have smashed displays and the proprietor has been targeted with letters vowing to destroy him. When a new threat arrives naming the dummy of King Charles I as the next victim, Marlowe spots a crucial clue in the handwriting and springs into action. Chase, gunplay, and an arrest follow as Marlowe works to put an end to the mystery.
