Sparkler Comics #70 is an anthology issue featuring the story "Strange As It Seems" by Ernest Hix, which recounts odd historical facts and bizarre locations such as cursed islands in Ecuador where colonists experienced death and insanity. The issue also includes a "Trixie" story in which the title character becomes involved in a blackmail scheme centered on a mysterious woman named Jaboo, leading to police involvement and the eventual capture of the criminals. The remainder of the issue comprises stamp-collecting advertisements and various mail-order promotions typical of 1948 comic books.
