77 Sunset Strip

Based on the popular television show, 77 Sunset Strip (1963, Magazine Management) brought the suave exploits of private detectives Stu Bailey and Jeff Spencer to comic book pages. Lasting six issues, the series paired the photo-realistic covers with interior art by the acclaimed Russ Manning, while Paul S. Newman scripted the majority of the detective adventures. Though a short-lived tie-in, it stands as a stylish artifact of the early 1960s crime-comic trend.
