This series collects two early works by Tardi, originally serialized in the 1970s and published together by Casterman in 1979. Adieu Brindavoine follows a young man's surreal adventures in pre-World War I France, while La Fleur au fusil shifts to the grim trenches of the Great War. Tardi's signature ligne claire style and anti-militarist themes are already fully formed here, marking an essential early statement from one of France's most celebrated comic artists.
