About the series

In the late 1980s, Eclipse Comics published Adolescent Radioactive Black Belt Hamsters, a nine-issue series that parodied the surging popularity of anthropomorphic martial-arts animal heroes. Writers Don Chin and Catherine Yronwode, alongside artists including Sam Kieth and the Parsonaviches, delivered a deliberately absurd blend of kung-fu action and teenage drama, with the hamsters battling ninja rats and other outlandish foes. A cult oddity from the indie boom, it stands as a goofy, self-aware relic of its era, remembered for its over-the-top premise and the early work of future Sandman cover artist Sam Kieth.
