Air Pirates Funnies

In 1971, underground comix provocateurs Gary Hallgren and Ted Richards launched Air Pirates Funnies for Hell Comics, a short-lived but notorious series that ran for just two issues. A cornerstone of the counterculture comix movement, the title is best remembered for its satirical, unauthorized use of Disney characters, which led to a landmark legal battle over copyright and parody. Though brief, its defiant, anti-establishment spirit made it a touchstone for the era's boundary-pushing alternative comics.
