All Great Comics

Dale Messick, best known for creating the long-running newspaper strip Brenda Starr, Reporter, contributed both writing and art to this short-lived 1940s Fox Comics anthology. Spanning just three issues from 1946 to 1947, All Great Comics featured a variety of genre stories typical of the era, with Messick’s distinctive style providing a consistent thread through its brief run. Though it left little lasting impact on the industry, the series is a minor but interesting footnote for fans of Messick’s early work and the post-war comic book boom.
