AmeriKKKa
A stark, politically charged science-fiction allegory published by Emmanuel Proust from 2004 to 2014, AmeriKKKa follows a dystopian vision of a near-future United States fractured by civil war and authoritarian rule. Across its nine-issue run, the series uses its speculative setting to explore themes of nationalism, propaganda, and social division, drawing on the era’s post-9/11 anxieties. The project is most closely associated with its creator, writer and artist Sylvain Chevalier (also credited under the pseudonym "Sylvain C."), whose stark, expressive linework and unflinching narrative gave the series a distinct, urgent voice. Though a relatively short-lived independent work, AmeriKKKa remains a notable example of European political comics engaging directly with American cultural and political tensions.
