Appleseed

In the late '80s and early '90s, Eclipse Comics brought Masamune Shirow's visionary manga Appleseed to English-speaking readers in a three-issue comic series. This cyberpunk saga, set in a post-apocalyptic world where humans and bio-engineered "bioroids" struggle for coexistence, showcases Shirow's intricate, densely detailed artwork and his signature blend of action, political intrigue, and philosophical questions. As an early Western adaptation of Shirow's work, it introduced many readers to the sprawling, tech-noir universe that would define much of his career.
