Bécassine

First published in 1913 by Gautier-Languereau, Bécassine is a landmark French comic series centered on the titular young Breton maid, whose adventures in Paris and beyond became a beloved cultural touchstone. Created by writer Caumery and artist Joseph-Porphyre Pinchon, the series ran for 32 issues and is recognized as one of the earliest French comic strips to feature a female protagonist.
