Banzaï

A French comics anthology from Arédit-Artima, Banzaï (1984–1987) packaged a wild mix of international adventure, fantasy, and science fiction for its 28-issue run. Best remembered for its flagship serials—like the sword-and-sorcery exploits of Wampus and the post-apocalyptic Le Gang des Dégommeurs—the series showcased the energetic work of artists such as Jean-Yves Mitton and Ciro Tota. Though short-lived, it captured the raw, unpolished energy of mid-80s European genre comics, offering readers a gritty alternative to more polished mainstream fare.
