Barney Bear

Barney Bear (1949–1950) was a short-lived but charming comic series from Magazine Management, the Australian publisher that would later become a powerhouse in the country's comics scene. The series starred a good-natured, anthropomorphic bear in lighthearted adventures, with art and stories by a small team of local talents. Though it ran for only ten issues, it's a notable early example of post-war Australian original comic book content, predating the publisher's more famous superhero and war titles. Its gentle humor and wholesome tone make it a fondly remembered piece of Australian comics history.
