Batman: Vitória Sombria

In 2003, Panini Brasil launched Batman: Vitória Sombria, a seven-issue limited series that brings the Dark Knight to a distinctly Brazilian context. Written by Eduardo Medeiros with art by Julio Shimamoto, this standalone story pits Batman against a mysterious new villain in the rain-soaked streets of Gotham, filtered through a uniquely South American sensibility. While never reprinted in English, it remains a notable entry in international Batman publishing for its atmospheric, noir-infused artwork and its place as a key work by the revered Brazilian artist Shimamoto.
