About the series
From 1976 to 1984, IPC published nine annuals for Battle Picture Weekly, the hardcover companion to the gritty war comic that defined British boys' adventure in the late '70s and early '80s. Most associated with writer Pat Mills and artists Joe Colquhoun and Oliver Frey, these oversized collections reprinted the series' most visceral tales of soldiers, commandos, and aerial aces—stories that rejected jingoism for a raw, human look at conflict.
