Bison Noir

In the late 1950s, French publisher Société Française de Presse Illustrée (SFPI) launched Bison Noir, a 16-issue comic series that brought the mythos of the American West to a European audience. This short-lived but visually striking title is remembered for its moody, cinematic artwork and its role in the post-war French appetite for imported adventure genres. Though its creators remain largely uncredited in surviving records, Bison Noir stands as a curious artifact of the era's pulp-inspired, cross-cultural storytelling.
