About the series
During its 1959–1974 run, K. G. Murray’s Blackhawk brought the globe-trotting aerial adventurers to Australian newsstands across 58 issues. The series was largely shaped by the steady hands of writers Henry Boltinoff and Jack Miller, with Boltinoff also pulling double duty as a frequent artist alongside Dick Dillin. This reprint-heavy series kept the Blackhawk squadron—originally a WWII-era team of ace pilots—alive for a new generation of readers, serving as a key pipeline for DC’s imported adventure comics Down Under.
