Blacksad

A series of seven Hungarian-language comic albums published by Pesti Könyv between 2016 and 2023, Blacksad collects the acclaimed European crime-noir stories of the anthropomorphic detective John Blacksad. Set in a gritty 1950s America populated by animal characters, the series is celebrated for its lush, painterly artwork and hardboiled storytelling. The talent most associated with the series—writer Juan Díaz Canales and artist Juanjo Guarnido—bring a cinematic, moody depth to each mystery, making it a standout of modern European comics.
