Jeff Smith's epic fantasy Bone follows the three Bone cousins—Fone Bone, Phoney Bone, and Smiley Bone—as they are run out of their hometown of Boneville and lost in a vast, uncharted desert. They soon stumble into a mysterious valley filled with strange creatures, including a beautiful young woman named Thorn and her fierce Gran'ma Ben, where they are drawn into a looming war against the rat-like creatures and the dark Lord of the Locusts. Originally serialized in 55 issues by Smith's own Cartoon Books, this German edition by Carlsen Comics collects the saga in 20 issues that blend slapstick comedy with high fantasy, inspired by everything from Walt Kelly's Pogo to J.R.R. Tolkien.
