Brûlant
Arédit-Artima · 1977–1981 · 16 issues
About the series
From 1977 to 1981, French publisher Arédit-Artima collected war and adventure tales in Brûlant, a 16-issue series that drew heavily on the gritty, action-packed work of American writers and artists. The series is most strongly associated with the visceral combat art of Russ Heath, the tense jungle stories of Jack Sparling, and the explosive panels of Tony DeZuniga, with scripts often supplied by Robert Kanigher, John Albano, and Jack Kirby. As a showcase for some of the best mid-century war comics talent, Brûlant matters as a distinctive French window into the raw, unglamorous side of military life.
