British Heroes

Published by L. Miller & Son, British Heroes was a short-lived eight-issue comic series from 1953–1954 that spotlighted homegrown costumed adventurers during the post-war British comics boom. While the series is largely remembered today for its rarity and the creative talent it featured—including writer-artist Mick Anglo, who would later co-create the iconic Marvelman—the title itself offered a modest, patriotic alternative to the influx of American superhero imports. Its significance lies in representing a transitional moment for British comics, bridging the end of the Golden Age and the dawn of a distinctly British superhero tradition.
