About the series

C.O.W.L. (2014–2015) is a two-issue miniseries from Image Comics that reimagines the superhero genre as a labor drama, set in a 1960s Chicago where costumed heroes are unionized members of the Chicago Organized Workers League. Written by Kyle Higgins and drawn by Rod Reis, the series explores the political and personal tensions within the union as its members face corruption, public skepticism, and the struggle for fair wages. It matters for its fresh, grounded take on superheroics, treating powers as a job and the caped crusaders as blue-collar workers.
