From 2004 to 2006, Marvel paired two of its most volatile mutants—the time-displaced soldier Cable and the merc with a mouth, Deadpool—for a 24-issue series that blended high-octane action with sharp, self-aware humor. Written primarily by Fabian Nicieza, with art from Patrick Zircher, Rob Liefeld, and Mark Brooks, the book explored the uneasy alliance between Nathan Summers and Wade Wilson as they clashed over ideology, fought shared enemies, and occasionally tried to kill each other.
