Captain Al Cohol

A four-issue series from Arctic Comics that ran from 1973 onward, Captain Al Cohol is a cult oddity of the early independent comics scene. The title character, a hard-drinking superhero, anchors a series best remembered for its crude, underground-comix sensibility and the singular creative vision of its primary artist and writer. Despite its brief run, it stands as an early example of the satirical, anti-heroic turn in comics, predating more mainstream deconstructions of the genre.
