About the series
A perennial fixture of the German comics market, Captain Future launched in 1983 from Bastei Verlag, spinning off from the popular radio and TV series of the same name. The title follows the adventures of the brilliant scientist Curt Newton and his futuristic companions as they travel the solar system, a classic space opera that ran for 21 issues. While various artists and writers contributed over its initial run, the series is most associated with the foundational work of writer Rolf Kauka, who helped define the character's German comic identity. Its importance lies in its role as a key example of how a transmedia property was adapted for the European comic-book format, maintaining a dedicated readership for decades.
