Captain N: The Game Master

In 1990, Acclaim and Valiant brought the Nintendo-inspired cartoon Captain N: The Game Master to comics, chronicling the adventures of video game hero Kevin Keene and his allies—including Kid Icarus and the bizarre Eggplant Wizard—across five issues. Written primarily by George Caragonne, Bill Vallely, and Bryan D. Leys, with art from Don Hudson, Mike Chen, and Dennis Woodyard, the series captured the playful, crossover energy of its era.
