Captain Swing and the Electrical Pirates of Cindery Island

In 2010–2011, Warren Ellis and artist Raulo Cáceres brought a steampunk noir to Avatar Press with Captain Swing and the Electrical Pirates of Cindery Island. This four-issue miniseries imagines an alternate 1830s London where renegade pirates harness lightning and electricity against the Crown’s tyranny. Ellis’s trademark blend of historical revisionism and high-concept science fiction is vividly rendered in Cáceres’s moody, intricate artwork.
