Castle Waiting

In the late 1990s, Linda Medley launched Castle Waiting for Cartoon Books, a creator-owned fairy-tale comic that ran for four issues. The series reimagined classic folklore through a grounded, character-driven lens, centering on the inhabitants of a mysterious castle where time and story itself seem to drift. Medley’s lush, detailed artwork and warm, witty dialogue gave the book a timeless, almost fable-like quality, distinguishing it from the superhero fare dominating the era.
