About the series
In the early 2000s, Linda Medley launched Castle Waiting under her own Olio imprint, a creator-owned fairy-tale fantasy that reimagines classic stories with warmth and depth. Set in a sprawling, magical castle inhabited by a wonderfully odd community of characters—including a bearded nun and the remnants of a once-great court—the series follows the arrival of a mysterious pregnant woman seeking refuge. Medley’s lush, detailed art, occasionally inked by Jason Lethcoe, brings this whimsical world to life. Though its initial run spanned only five issues, Castle Waiting is celebrated for its gentle, character-driven storytelling and its thoughtful, feminist take on folklore.
