From 2006 to 2013, Fantagraphics collected Linda Medley's acclaimed fairy-tale saga in three oversized volumes, each gathering the self-contained chapters of her long-running series. Medley, the sole writer and artist, populates a sprawling, whimsical castle with a diverse cast of refugees and oddballs—from a bearded lady to a stork knight—all seeking shelter and community. The series reimagines classic folklore with a warm, feminist sensibility, focusing on domesticity and found family rather than epic quests.
