Cherry

Kitchen Sink Press · 1993–1996 · 19 issues
About the series

From 1993 to 1996, Kitchen Sink Press published nineteen issues of Cherry, a bawdy, adult-oriented humor comic starring the irrepressible Cherry Poptart. Anchored by writer/artist Larry Welz, the series blended raunchy slapstick with pop-culture satire, occasionally crossing over with the similarly risqué world of Omaha the Cat Dancer. A defining title of the era's independent-comics boom, it pushed boundaries with its unapologetically crude—and surprisingly witty—take on sex, celebrity, and the absurdities of modern life.
