About the series
In 1963 and 1964, Dell Comics published five issues of Clyde Crashcup, a lighthearted spin-off from The Alvin Show animated series. Writer John Stanley and artist Irving Tripp brought the pompous, self-styled inventor to the printed page, where his grand schemes and inevitable mishaps provided gentle, gag-driven humor. While a minor entry in the Stanley-Tripp partnership, it stands as a curious artifact of early-1960s licensed comics and a showcase for their reliable comedic timing.
