Marvel's Conan the Barbarian had already made its mark, but this 1980 series from Italian publisher Editoriale Corno gave the Cimmerian a distinct European sensibility. Running for just nine issues, it adapted Robert E. Howard's original stories with a raw, atmospheric art style that set it apart from the American books. While less famous than its Marvel counterpart, this short-lived series is a fascinating artifact of how Conan was reimagined for an international audience during the early '80s.
