About the series
From 2006 through its five-issue run, Dark Horse’s Conan and the Songs of the Dead paired writer Joe R. Lansdale with artist Timothy Truman for a gritty, atmospheric take on Robert E. Howard’s barbarian. Set in the Hyborian Age, the story follows Conan through a dark fantasy mystery involving a cursed melody and a vanished sorcerer. Lansdale’s sharp, folk-horror sensibility and Truman’s rugged, detailed art made this a standout mini-series for fans of the Cimmerian’s earlier, more savage adventures. It’s a concise, self-contained tale that captures the pulp spirit of Howard’s original work.
