Contact Comics

Published by Aviation Press from 1944 to 1946, Contact Comics ran for twelve issues, blending wartime aviation adventure with tales of daring pilots and aerial combat. The series is most notably associated with writer Bill Woolfolk and artists Rudy Palais, Harvey Kurtzman, and L. B. Cole, the latter of whom also contributed striking, often lurid covers. While it never achieved lasting fame, the series stands as a snapshot of the mid-1940s comic book market, showcasing the emerging talents of Kurtzman and the distinctive pulp style of Cole.
