Contrapaso

In Contrapaso (2021–present), Spanish creators Teresa Valero and Montse Martín craft a taut, two-issue noir thriller for Splitter Verlag. Set in 1950s Madrid, the story follows a journalist investigating a series of murders, weaving together Cold War tensions and personal obsession. Valero’s sharp, atmospheric script is matched by Martín’s expressive, chiaroscuro-inspired art, making this a standout European crime comic.
