From 1985 to 2000, Globe Communications' Cracked carried on the tradition of madcap parody as a direct competitor to Mad magazine, blending original humor with licensed lampoons of pop culture. Over 134 issues, the series leaned heavily on the gag-writing and cartooning of frequent contributors Vic Martin, Jeff Wong, and Don Martin, with Michael Ricigliano providing much of the distinctive artwork. Recurring targets included beloved icons like Bart Simpson, Bugs Bunny, and Daffy Duck, while original characters such as the villainous Baron von Rotten added a satirical edge. Though often overlooked, Cracked carved out its own niche in the humor-comic landscape, offering a scrappier, more irreverent alternative for readers who couldn't get enough of the genre.
