About the series
In 2009, Panini Brasil began collecting the English-language editions of Katsura Hoshino's gothic fantasy epic D. Gray-Man for a Brazilian audience, repackaging the ongoing saga of Allen Walker and the Black Order's war against the Millennium Earl into 27 locally published issues. The series follows a young exorcist wielding a cursed left arm and a parasitic weapon known as Innocence, set in a dark 19th-century-inspired world where Akuma—soul-trapped mechanical monsters—threaten humanity. Hoshino's intricate, emotionally charged artwork and the story's blend of horror, tragedy, and found-family dynamics make this a cornerstone of early 2000s shonen manga, with Panini's edition preserving its legacy for Portuguese-speaking readers.
