During the dark years of World War II, Norwegian publisher N.W. Damm & Søn launched Damms Billedserier, a 44-issue comic series that ran from 1941 to 1946. Primarily written by Hans Braarvig and illustrated by Jacob Grundt, the series also adapted Western tales by Zane Grey and stories by Edw. S. Ellis, with art contributions from Johs. Berggren and Charles Flanders. It stands as a notable early Norwegian comic anthology, providing wartime readers with adventure and escapism through a mix of original and licensed material.
