Dark Dominion

Jim Shooter’s post-Valiant imprint Defiant launched Dark Dominion in 1994, a superhero saga where a mysterious alien force grants a handful of ordinary people extraordinary powers—and then leaves them to figure out who they can trust. The series is best remembered for its striking, moody art by J. G. Jones and a late-issue fill-in by Steve Ditko, whose iconic style gave the book a jolt of classic weirdness. Though it ran only 11 issues, it remains a cult touchstone for fans of 1990s creator-owned experimentation.
