Darkwing Duck

Boom! Studios revived the beloved Disney Afternoon hero in this 2010–2011 series, faithfully capturing the swashbuckling, pun-filled adventures of Darkwing Duck (and his mild-mannered alter ego, Drake Mallard). Written primarily by Ian Brill and James Silvani, with a story arc by game designer Warren Spector, and illustrated throughout by Silvani, the 18-issue run reunited the core cast—Launchpad, Gosalyn, Honker, and Morgana—for new capers that honored the original cartoon's tone while expanding its world. It remains a standout example of how a licensed comic can treat its source material with both affection and ambition.
