About the series
In the early 1960s, the Flemish newspaper Het Volk collected the beloved, long-running adventures of the hapless detective Nero and his eccentric supporting cast into a series of 53 comic albums. Drawn by the prolific Marc Sleen, these volumes preserve the classic, gag-a-minute newspaper strip style that made Nero a household name in Belgium. Though the series only ran from 1961 to 1965, it remains a key document of Flemish comic history, showcasing Sleen’s lively, cartoonish art and his talent for blending slapstick humor with whimsical, often absurd plots.
