About the series
From 1979 to 1986, the Dutch publisher Oberon released De jonge jaren van Mickey & Donald, a six-issue comic series that reimagined the childhood adventures of Disney’s most iconic characters. Anchored by the classic storytelling of Floyd Gottfredson and Ted Osborne, with vibrant artwork from Daan Jippes and Gottfredson himself, the series offered a nostalgic glimpse into the early exploits of Mickey Mouse, Donald Duck, Minnie Mouse, and Pluto. It also introduced a playful twist by featuring a young Robin Hood, blending familiar Disney lore with fresh, youthful energy. This short but charming run stands as a unique European tribute to the timeless appeal of these beloved characters.
