De Stad

In the mid-1980s, Dutch publisher Arboris brought Will Eisner to the pages of De Stad, a short-lived series of just two issues that showcased the master storyteller’s signature urban narratives. More a thematic anthology than a continuous story, the series collected Eisner’s evocative, humanistic tales of city life, blending his pioneering graphic storytelling with a European publication context. Though brief, De Stad stands as a notable international collaboration, offering a unique window into Eisner’s work as it appeared for a Dutch-speaking audience.
